How to Build UTM Links That Actually Track in GA4
Mytulify TeamUpdated July 14, 20262 min read

UTM parameters are the simplest way to know which campaigns send traffic to your site. Without them, paid ads, newsletters, and social posts blur together in Google Analytics 4.
The five UTM fields
| Parameter | Purpose | Example |
|---|---|---|
utm_source |
Where traffic comes from | newsletter, facebook, google |
utm_medium |
Channel type | email, cpc, social |
utm_campaign |
Promotion name | summer_sale_2026 |
utm_term |
Paid keyword (optional) | online+tools |
utm_content |
Creative variant (optional) | header_cta |
Keep names lowercase, use underscores, and never put spaces in values.
How to create a link on Mytulify
- Open the UTM Builder.
- Paste your destination URL.
- Fill source, medium, and campaign (add term/content if you A/B test ads).
- Copy the generated URL into ads, emails, or social bios.
Naming tips that save reporting pain
- Agree on a short glossary (
emailnote-mail/Email). - Put the date or quarter in the campaign when it helps (
launch_q3). - Don’t reuse the same campaign name for unrelated promotions.
Clean UTMs turn GA4 into a decision tool instead of a mystery. Use the free builder anytime you ship a campaign link.
